Alena Sadiq was born in Pakistan and has lived there all her life. She is sixteen, and in her last year of GCSE O levels. Due to her own experience with depression, she wants to make mental illness an acceptable condition in her society, and encourage people to treat it as a medical problem, and not make it a ‘taboo’ subject. She also strongly believes in the empowerment of women, and their equality in status with men. After studying the history of her country, she has come to the conclusion that religion should have nothing to do with the affairs of the state. Her knowledge isn’t vast, and her opinions are still changing, but she wants to make a difference to her country, and to the world.
